This policy covers ukcapitalgains.com ("UK Capital Gains Tax Calculator", "we", "us"). You can contact us at hello@ukcapitalgains.com.

All calculations happen in your web browser, on your own device. The trades, prices, income and other figures you enter are not sent to us, and we can't see them. If you import a file from your broker, it is read on your device and is never uploaded.

So that your trades are still there when you come back, your browser saves them in its local storage on your device. You can remove them at any time by clicking "Reset example" on the calculator, or by clearing your browser's data for this site.

We don't use cookies, and we don't use advertising or social media trackers.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how the site is used. It counts the pages people visit and a small set of actions, such as importing a file from a broker, changing the tax year or seeing a result. With each one it records the page, the site you came from, your country, and your browser, operating system and device type. For imports, it records which broker the file came from and roughly how many trades it had, such as "11 to 50".

Analytics never receives the trades, prices, amounts or other figures you enter, or the names of the files you import. It doesn't use cookies or store anything on your device. Visits are grouped using a short-lived code that Vercel discards after 24 hours, so we can't identify you or follow you across other websites. We only see totals. We don't load content from other third-party services. If this changes, we'll update this policy first.

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. Like any website host, Vercel automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This is used to deliver the site and keep it secure, and it is kept only for a short period.

Vercel may process this information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where it does, it uses the safeguards required by UK data protection law. You can read Vercel's privacy policy.

If you contact us, we'll use your email address and message only to reply to you. We'll keep them only as long as we need to deal with your message, and we won't add you to a mailing list or share your details.

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct or delete it. Because we don't collect your trades, the only personal information we're likely to hold is an email you've sent us.

If you're unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
